About this event

Chapter 510 friend and supporter Mike Birbiglia first picked up a pen in grade school, practiced writing throughout high school and college, and today is a well-known storyteller, comedian, podcaster, film director and actor.

Mike is currently doing a three-week run of his new show The Old Man and the Pool at Berkeley Rep. For one night only, we’re inviting a small group to attend the show and stay after for a conversation with Mike—about the show, storytelling, or anything else on your mind.

This special event will benefit Chapter 510, Oakland’s youth creative writing center. When you buy one of the limited number of tickets to this event, you’re upholding Chapter 510's vision that every young person in Oakland learns to write with confidence and joy. Chapter 510 believes that when young people write and get published, they transform themselves and their communities, succeeding in school, work, and life.

Learning to communicate through writing was central to Mike's life's work, so it's important to him — and hopefully, to you! — to support youth writers and great organizations like Chapter 510.
