Chapter 510 celebrates the release of two youth anthologies , A PODCAST & Hoover’s Megaland!

At the Spring Lit Fest on Saturday May 18, Chapter 510 celebrated the release of two new youth written anthologies, Hello From Somewhere and House Where the Earth Quakes, as well as Hoover Elementary School’s MEGALAND virtual theme park.

Hello From Somewhere is an anthology of fiction from queer and BIPOC middle school students. This collection was born out of Chapter 510’s fall fiction workshop with Duane Horton. Each of these stories is a powerful investigation into fantasy and dreaming of new worlds, through moving action, plot twists, and intriguing main characters with their unique challenges.

House Where the Earth Quakes is a poetry anthology from Oakland teens, written in Chapter 510’s poetry workshop with Gabriel Cortez. This collection offers fearless explorations of intimacy, ancestry, and the places that raise us.

Chapter 510 also celebrates the release of Tales of Surviving High School, a podcast series from nine high school students documenting pieces of their education experience and asking important questions. These audio stories are featured now on the Sound Space podcast feed

This spring, Chapter 510 partnered with Hoover Elementary School’s 3rd & 4th grade class to create MEGALAND, a vibrant virtual theme park, brought to life through Black Terminus AR software. Be prepared for bacon rollercoasters, gummy monkey mazes, and heartfelt adventures.
